Gas detection and calibration

Calibration and repair of portable and fixed gas detectors using traceable calibration gas, plus supply of detectors, sensors and gas.

Between 2000 and 2024, at least 1,010 people died in enclosed spaces on ships; in recent years the figure has been around 50 a year. The portable gas detector is often the only thing between a crew member and a wrong decision, and a detector that is out of calibration shows a reassuring but wrong reading.

We calibrate with traceable gas, replace worn sensors before they fail and issue certificates that match the serial numbers on board.

Scope

Portable detectors

Multi-gas and single-gas detectors for O₂, flammable gases, H₂S and CO (the SOLAS minimum), and, as MSC.581(110) now recommends, for CO₂, together with PID instruments for volatile organic compounds (VOCs): calibration, sensor replacement and battery checks.

Fixed systems

Gas detection in cargo pump rooms, ballast and void spaces, and refrigerant and CO₂ leak detection: sensors, sampling lines and alarms.

Calibration gas

Supply of certified calibration gas cylinders and tracking of their expiry dates.
