Engineering, installation and commissioning

From engineering and installation to commissioning and handover, one team manages the entire process for gas and fire detection, gas sampling, process and automation systems.

The value of a safety or process system shows on site, at the moment of the first alarm. At that point the detector has to see the right spot, the signal has to reach the control system without interruption and the scenario has to run exactly as designed. Every link in that chain depends on engineering decisions made while the system was still on paper.

For gas detection, fire detection, gas sampling lines and process and automation systems, we build that chain from start to finish. We begin with a site survey, prepare the engineering documents, manage the installation and commission the system by verifying it step by step on site. Instead of work that changes hands between disciplines, we deliver an integrated project for which one team carries the responsibility.

A new facility, the extension of an existing system or the commissioning of a system installed by another company: in every case we work with the same care and record every job done on site in writing.

Scope

Survey and basic engineering

Our sales engineers inspect the site in person and, together with you, assess the process flow, hazardous areas, existing infrastructure and your expectations. The resulting list of requirements forms the basis of a priced turnkey project offer.

Detailed engineering

Layout of detector and sampling points, instrument and I/O lists, cable schedules, panel design and the cause-and-effect matrix. Work on site begins only after you have approved every document.

Gas sampling systems

We design, install and commission the sampling line, filtration, conditioning and flow control to suit the conditions on site, so that a representative sample reaches the measuring point in time.

Process and automation integration

We connect detection systems to your PLC, DCS and SCADA infrastructure and implement the alarm, interlock and control scenarios in the control system. Where needed, we carry out the factory acceptance test (FAT) with you before delivery.

Installation and site management

We carry out the installation with our own team or direct your electrical and mechanical contractors on site. For installations in hazardous areas, equipment selection and installation details are checked against the relevant standards.

Commissioning and handover

Loop checks, detector verification with test gas, end-to-end testing of every scenario and the site acceptance test (SAT). We hand over the system together with training for your operating team and documentation that reflects the final situation.

What you receive

  • Approved engineering package: layout drawings, instrument and I/O lists, cable schedules, panel drawings and the cause-and-effect matrix
  • Loop check and commissioning records, with detector verifications and details of the test gas used
  • Signed protocols of the acceptance tests performed (FAT/SAT)
  • As-built drawings showing the final situation on site, and an attendance record of the training given to the operating team

Frequently asked questions

How does this service differ from gas and fire detection projects?

Gas and fire detection projects focus on delivering a fixed detection system turnkey. This service goes further: in multidisciplinary projects that also include sampling lines, process instrumentation and automation integration, we take on engineering, installation and commissioning together.

What is your offer based on?

Instead of list prices, we work from what we see on site. Our sales engineers clarify the requirements during the survey, our engineering team determines the equipment and labour needed, and we then present a turnkey project offer with every item priced.

Can you commission a system installed by another company?

Yes. We first review the existing documents and the installation on site and report any gaps or non-conformities. Once these have been resolved, we commission the system with loop checks and scenario tests and document the results.

Do you provide support after commissioning?

Yes. We prepare a periodic maintenance plan covering calibration, sensor replacement and function tests, and make the service records available in your Vertex Service customer portal.
