Dräger Bodyguard 7000
The Dräger Bodyguard 7000 is an electronic signalling and warning unit for the Dräger PSS 7000 and PSS 5000 breathing apparatus; it continuously monitors personal information and the operating status of the apparatus. It combines a warning and signalling unit, cylinder pressure gauge and data logger in one device, with all key data on one display. Cylinder pressure and remaining operating time are shown continuously, so the wearer can leave an emergency with enough air. User ID and battery level are logged for post-incident analysis. Where the Dräger PSS Merlin modem is used, data can be sent directly to the PSS Merlin telemetry board. Functions are configured with Dräger PC-Link Windows software, and data is transferred to a computer via RFID. The central power supply and electronics are protected in the back plate; the electronics feed the display and send data to the FPS 7000 head-up display and PSS Merlin modem, if present. The lightweight unit has large buttons that can be used with gloves; the large backlit display can be read without a torch (digital and analogue), and scrolling text gives detailed information. The personal user ID is read with RFID cards and a ready-made data report is produced. With an integrated motion sensor and manually activated distress button, it gives a clearly audible and visible signal when a firefighter stops moving or is in distress. A version with button or with entry control tally is available, and all warnings are logged for analysis.
