Dräger X-plore 8000 Welding Visors
Dräger X-plore 8000 welding visors are headpieces for the Dräger X-plore 8000 powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) system, giving eye, face and respiratory protection together during welding. They protect against sparks and weld spatter as well as the harmful light radiation produced in welding. The automatic darkening filter (ADF) module is set to shade 4 for grinding, 5-8 for cutting and 9-13 for welding. They suit stick (coated electrode), TIG, MIG/MAG, plasma cutting/welding, grinding and oxyfuel welding/cutting; they are not suitable for laser beam welding. There are two models: on the Lasvizier Standaard a button on the outside switches the ADF to grinding mode; the dual-powered ADF (solar cell and battery) has a battery life of up to 2,200 hours and a warning light shows when the battery is low. The Lasvizier Premium has a flip-up automatic welding visor; flipping it up gives the inner clear visor for preparation and grinding, darkened side windows widen the view, and the ADF battery lasts up to 2,800 hours with a digital display. A textile neck seal and a turn-knob adjustable head harness are fitted. With the X-plore 8300 or 8500 they are approved to EN 12941 TH3 and AS/NZS 1716, and with the 8500 to NIOSH; eye protection is to EN 166 and EN 175, the ADF to EN 379.
