Dräger Saver PP
The Dräger Saver PP is a positive pressure emergency escape breathing apparatus with an integrated full-face mask, allowing safe escape from hazardous environments even if H2S is present. It is simple to put on, operates automatically and can be used together with other safety equipment such as ear protectors or helmets. It is designed for use by trained personnel: when opened it activates automatically and feeds a continuous supply of compressed air to the lung demand valve. Depending on the model it provides 10 or 15 minutes of escape air: the Saver PP10 has a 2 L 200 bar aluminium cylinder, the Saver PP15 a 3 L 200 bar steel cylinder and the Saver PP15 CC a 3 L 200 bar carbon composite cylinder. The unit is easily reset after a false alarm, and cylinders can be refilled without special tools. The Dräger Panorama Nova full-face mask supplied with it has low exhalation resistance, excellent peripheral vision and is self-defogging; the elastic head harness is fast to put on and holds the mask securely even under strenuous conditions. An optional integrated air hose connects to external mid-pressure air supplies in muster stations and emergency assembly areas for prolonged escape situations; CEJN connections are standard, Forster or Hansen optional. It is available with a soft bag or hard case; the black anti-static cases and bright orange bags carry photoluminescent panels and reflective stripes, can be wall-mounted and are worn across the chest or over the shoulder. Unless local regulations specify otherwise, it should need little to no service or maintenance for the first 10 years; a transparent window lets you check the cylinder pressure gauge without unpacking, and checks should be made at regular intervals. It is approved to EN 402:2003, DNV fire and type approval, SOLAS Chapter II-2, the Marine Equipment Directive, the Pressure Equipment Directive and ISO 23269-1:2008; hard case and anti-static soft bag versions are suitable for explosive atmospheres (zone 0). The LDV diaphragm of the Saver PP H2S version is designed to withstand the highest H2S concentrations seen in oil and gas applications; it suits escape from areas contaminated up to 450,000 ppm H2S without exceeding the 5 ppm STEL. A cold temperature version protects from -30 °C up to +60 °C. It weighs 16.76 lb.
