New safety glasses from Delta Plus: Irazu, Milo Detectable and more

Prepared by: Vertex Safety TürkiyePublished: Updated:

Short answer

With the Irazu, Milo Detectable, Brava Reader, Brava Wheat, Haruna and Tanaga models, Delta Plus has extended its options for food production, prescription-glasses wearers and combined office and site use.

IRAZU

With the new safety glasses it announced in August 2025, Delta Plus has extended its range to meet different user needs. Although the headline of the announcement refers to five new glasses, the text names six models: Irazu, Milo Detectable, Brava Reader, Brava Wheat, Haruna and Tanaga. The models focus on specific scenarios such as food production, wearing prescription glasses, low plastic content and moving between the office and the site.

The models and their key features

  • Irazu: A 75-gram model offering a panoramic field of vision. It is presented with references to EN166, EN170 and ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 and has a KN/X coating against scratching and fogging. The elastic strap, attached with side hooks, can be removed and washed, and the case is made from recycled fabric.
  • Milo Detectable: Designed in blue for the food industry. Metal particles in the temples allow fragments that get into the production line to be detected by X-ray and recovered with a magnet. It also offers UV400 protection and an anti-scratch, anti-fog coating.
  • Brava Reader: The lower part of the lens has a reading correction in four different dioptre levels between +1 and +2.5.
  • Brava Wheat: The temples are made from a straw-based biomaterial. For this model, Delta Plus states a biomaterial content of 66% and approximately 40% less plastic.
  • Haruna: A model that can be worn over prescription glasses. Clear lenses are available for indoor use and smoke lenses for outdoor use; it offers a high temple position and adjustable temple length.
  • Tanaga: A lightweight model with the look of office glasses, for engineers and managers who move back and forth between the office and the site. It is presented with an anti-fog, scratch-resistant lens.

What does this mean for OHS and purchasing?

One of the problems most often seen on site is that users find their glasses uncomfortable and take them off. Over-glasses models or models with reading correction for those who wear prescription glasses, and plainer designs for those who move between the office and the site, can help reduce this problem. In food facilities, detectable equipment can be considered as part of the foreign-body control programme.

When choosing a model, it helps to consider the following points together:

  • Whether the product marking matches the hazard identified in the risk assessment (impact, dust, liquid splashes, UV)
  • The user's need for prescription correction and comfort throughout the shift
  • Compatibility with metal detector and X-ray inspection lines in food production
  • The type of coating for environments with a high risk of fogging

Delta Plus also stated that the Haruna and Tanaga models were developed with the new EN ISO 16321 standard in mind. We cover the changes introduced by this standard in a separate Knowledge Centre article.
