Dräger PARAT 5550
The Dräger PARAT 5550 is a fire escape hood packaged in a flame-retardant holster. It was specifically developed for fire rescue teams for use in victim rescue. Its main advantage is that it is system-approved together with Dräger breathing apparatus according to EN 137:2006, Type 2; the combination of breathing apparatus, fire escape hood and holster is approved to EN 137:2006, Type 2 and EN 403:2004. The hood can be carried, for example on the breathing apparatus, without restricting the rescuer's freedom of movement, and is ready when needed. For at least 15 minutes it protects against highly toxic fire-related gases such as CO, as well as vapours and particles; carried at all times, it can also save lives in a respiratory protection emergency such as a disconnected air supply. The wearer opens the holster, removes the foil pouch, tears it open along the perforation, even when wearing gloves, and helps the person being rescued to don the hood; a clearly visible pictogram illustrates the donning procedure. The holster's reflective stripes make it visible from a distance, the material is machine washable and the inner label can be used for personalisation. The holster attaches to the breathing apparatus with the integrated belt loop with emergency release or with approved accessories such as the shoulder harness or carabiner hook; the PARAT 5550h has horizontal belt loops and is designed to be attached to the shoulder strap of the breathing apparatus. Optional small and large accessory pockets can be ordered separately. Filter plugs protect the filter, and the filter expiry date is visible from outside the foil pouch. The overall lifetime is 16 years, with the filter exchanged after 8 years only via Dräger Service. It weighs 1.56 lb. Order number: R59445 (PARAT 5550 Fire Escape Hood, Pouch).
